Patients Deserve Expert Anesthesia Care

Anesthesia is unlike primary or preventative health care. It occurs in a complex, high-risk setting where complications can arise quickly, requiring immediate medical attention. That’s why the highest standards call for a team to provide anesthesia care. The team can include nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), anesthesiologist assistants and medical residents – all led by a physician.

Unfortunately, some CRNAs want to break up the Anesthesia Care Team model.

Physician anesthesiologists have the most complete training and education. Having them lead the Anesthesia Care Team keeps patients safe.

As of now, there are only five states where nurse anesthetists are authorized to practice without physician involvement.
